CSPP™ Certified Sustainable Project Professional Preparation

The credential for professionals who deliver projects that perform against people, planet and prosperity — not just scope, schedule and budget. Grounded in the P5™ Standard and aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Preparation for the PMI & GPM Certified Sustainable Project Professional (CSPP)™ credential
  • Two PMI pathways — one for certified practitioners, one for non-certified practitioners
  • Built on the P5™ Standard and aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Who this programme is for

Project and programme managers in sectors where sustainability, resilience and reporting shape delivery · professionals in organizations embedding sustainability into strategy or governance · development-sector and infrastructure project leaders · consultants advising on sustainable delivery · anyone connecting project decisions to measurable ESG impact.

Sustainability has moved from a nice-to-have to a delivery requirement: funders, regulators and enterprise reporting frameworks now judge projects on environmental, social and economic impact alongside the traditional constraints. The CSPP™ — offered by PMI with GPM — certifies the ability to embed sustainability into project governance, planning and delivery, grounded in the P5™ Standard and aligned to the UN SDGs. This programme prepares candidates on either the certified- or non-certified-practitioner pathway.

Expected experience or prerequisites

PMI offers two pathways:

Eligibility and examination information

Requirements are set by the awarding body, not by Paraklete Institute. We review your circumstances before you commit.

  • Certified Practitioner pathway — for those holding an eligible project/program credential or qualifying education; requires completion of 12 hours of sustainability training (included in the practitioner bundle/programme).
  • Non-Certified Practitioner pathway — requires completion of 20 hours of sustainability training.

Both require completion of the sustainability training before the exam, delivered through the CSPP™ Exam Prep Course or an authorized training partner. The exact criteria distinguishing the two pathways, and the exam format, are confirmed with you during advisor review.

Renewal note: CSPP must be renewed every three years. The PDUs earned also count toward renewal of other PMI certifications you may hold (PMP®, CAPM®, PgMP®, PfMP® and more).

Frequently asked questions

Is CSPP a PMI certification?

It's offered by PMI together with GPM (Green Project Management), built on the P5™ Standard. It's a recognized PMI credential in the sustainability space.

Which pathway am I on — certified or non-certified?

It depends on your existing credentials and education. The certified-practitioner pathway needs 12 training hours; the non-certified needs 20. The Advisor Clarity Call confirms your pathway before you commit.

I already hold a PMP — is this worth it?

Beyond the credential itself, the PDUs you earn count toward your PMP renewal, so it does double duty. And sustainability capability is increasingly a competitive requirement in bids and funding.

Is passing guaranteed?

No — same policy as every programme.

The CSPP™ certification is offered by the Project Management Institute, Inc. with GPM. Paraklete Institute provides examination preparation and does not issue the credential or guarantee examination success. Eligibility requirements, training-hour requirements, fees and policies are set by PMI/GPM and may change.
